Large corporate events have the power to bring people together, but they can also generate an extraordinary amount of waste. From large-scale catering to logistics and décor, every detail has an environmental footprint. At Paramount Events, we see that as an opportunity to do better.

Our commitment to sustainability drives how we plan and execute every event, ensuring that exceptional experiences don’t come at the expense of our planet or our community.

From Celebration to Contribution

At a recent event hosting more than 2,300 guests, sustainability remained front and center in every decision we made. Through careful planning and meaningful partnerships, we ensured that any leftover food didn’t go to waste.

Once the event wrapped up, our team worked quickly to recover, redistribute, and transform surplus food into thousands of nourishing meals for Chicagoans in need. What could have ended up as waste instead became a powerful act of giving — reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving water, and diverting thousands of pounds of food from landfills along the way.

The Ripple Effect of a Meal

Several local nonprofits benefited from the recovered food, including Almost Home Chicago and Inner Voice, Inc., both of which provide essential support to individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.

Almost Home Chicago shared, “We are truly grateful for the amazing food donations we received! The breakfast items arrived early enough that we were able to set up a buffet-style service, and within hours, more than 40 people came in to enjoy a meal. Altogether, these donations helped us feed at least 350 people. The variety of food, from scones and muffins to salads, potatoes, turkey and ham, was fantastic. Thank you so much.”

Inner Voice, Inc. added, “The donations were wonderful… This gave participants the chance to enjoy a greater variety and higher quality of food than they’re used to, which means a lot, especially for those who have experienced chronic homelessness. Donations like this truly make a difference. When our participants are well-fed, they’re better able to focus on other important areas of their lives, like finding employment and addressing their health needs.”

These words remind us why our sustainability initiatives matter. Every event has the potential to create a ripple effect that extends far beyond the venue and into the lives of those who need it most.

A Sustainable Path Forward

Events of this size often come with unavoidable waste, but with the right systems in place, that waste can become a resource. Through our ongoing sustainability efforts, Paramount Events continues to:

  • Recover and redistribute surplus food to local nonprofits.
  • Compost organic materials to reduce landfill waste.
  • Track and measure environmental impact for transparency and improvement.

Each event becomes another step toward reducing our collective footprint and strengthening our local communities.

Our Commitment Continues

Sustainability isn’t a one-time initiative; it’s part of who we are. Whether it’s an intimate gathering or a 2,000-person corporate event, we’re committed to finding meaningful ways to minimize waste and maximize impact.
