February is Heart Health Month

February 1, 2022 | Catering, Health and Wellness, Paramount Events

Nutritious, wholesome food is always at the core of what we do at Paramount Events.

We understand that what you put in your body fuels your day – and nutrient-rich, fresh foods fuel the best celebrations!

This Heart Health Month, we’re highlighting ingredients that we love that can also help prevent heart disease. Read on for some of our favorites and how they contribute to keeping your heart strong and healthy:

Whole Grains – Whole grains, that is, grains that are unrefined and contain the entire grain, are full of fiber, which can help improve cholesterol levels and keep you feeling full and fueled. We love to feature whole grains like red quinoa in our California Bistro Box.

Leafy Greens – Dark, leafy greens like spinach, kale, and Brussels sprouts contain vitamin K and nitrates, which can help lower your blood pressure and keep your arteries clear and strong. Our Butternut Squash and Brassicas Salad with Brussels sprouts and Tuscan kale is a delicious way to add more leafy greens to your next event!

Nuts & Seeds – Nuts like walnuts and almonds have many health benefits, from vitamins and minerals to monounsaturated fats and fiber – all of which can help lower cholesterol and promote heart health. Got a nut allergy? No problem! Many seeds like flax, hemp, and chia seeds contain the same benefits without the allergens. Our Piri Piri Chicken Sandwich features sunflower seeds, adding a great crunch and heart health benefits to your meal.

Fresh Berries – Full of antioxidants, fresh berries like blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries have many heart health and anti-aging benefits. Try our Housemade Granola and Fresh Fruit Parfaits to start your day with a delicious antioxidant boost.

Tuna & Salmon – Tuna, salmon and other fatty fish contain omega-3 fatty acids, which help lower cholesterol and systolic blood pressure. Our Seared Tuna Lollipops are the perfect heart-healthy bites to add to your next gathering. (Bonus: they also contain avocado, another nutrient-rich favorite!)

Dark Chocolate – It wouldn’t be February if we didn’t celebrate with some Valentine’s chocolate! Dark chocolate is full of flavonoids, a type of antioxidant which can reduce the risk of heart disease. Looking to add a sweet treat to top off your event? Try our delicious Dark Chocolate Truffles and feel good knowing you and your guests are ending the night on a sweet (and heart-healthy) note.

Keeping your heart healthy and strong is so important – so let us help you plan your next event with a menu that includes all the nutritious, delicious ingredients you love!
