Paramount Serves: Earth Day

April 20, 2018 | Garden, Health and Wellness

If you couldn’t tell by our onsite greenhouse and passion for fresh ingredients, we are pretty serious about the Earth here at The Paramount Group. So serious in fact, that we kicked off Earth Day a week early this past weekend.

In addition to being passionate about our environment, we’re also very focused on giving back to our community though our Paramount Serves initiative, and we saw Earth Day as the perfect opportunity to combine the two. Last Sunday, over 20 kids from the Hephzibah Children’s Association — one of our community partners — joined our team in celebrating, and while we had hoped we could celebrate outside in our parking lot, Mother Nature had other ideas (sleet in mid-April), so we hosted everything in our onsite venue, The Lakewood.

The kids enjoyed selecting their own seeds and planting them, making caterpillars with various crafts, and decorating Earth shaped cookies with all different colored frostings. Though the kids had fun at all the different stations, the cookie decorating station was by far the crowd favorite (who doesn’t like to decorate their own cookies with frosting?). Additionally, Demetrius, our onsite manager for our Greenhouse (which we use to grow herbs and vegetables that we use in our dishes), gave tours of our greenhouse to everyone, and let the kids sample some of the different herbs.

Lastly, we had a snack station with veggies and dips, and a giant tree where each child hung shapes on which they had written their own responses to “I’m grateful for the earth because”

All in all, it was a great day for a cause so important to us, and we feel lucky we were able to celebrate it with so many young Earth enthusiasts!
